Why Metzler?

sparkling, warm, mellow

Arlie Moran is a 20th century American maker. Over his career he was based in both Fresno & Hollywood, California. Moran worked for Hans Weisshaar in Hollywood as a specialist varnish retoucher.

This violin has reddish-brown varnish. The top has a wide grain with antiquing and the two-piece back has narrow figure running straight from bout to bout. This violin has a sparkling, warm tone that would make it an excellent instrument for chamber playing.

Inside label reads:

Fresno, California 1963

Op. 6

Length: 36.2 cm

Upper Bouts: 16.5 cm

Middle Bouts: 11.1 cm
