About the Instrument
This violin has a lovely timbre with a soulful lower register complimented by a spirited alto register, giving it a versatility that is excellent as a solo instrument or to integrate smoothly in a larger group. Its beautiful russet varnish that brings out its refined tiger stripe figure across its single-piece back.

About the Maker
Cesare Magrini (1950- ) is a contemporary luthier who was born in Bologna, Italy and apprenticed under his uncle Primo Contavalla in the nearby city of Imola. From there, Magrini worked in the ateliers across the country, from Bologna, Rimini, and Rome in the shops of Otello Bignami, Ansaldo Poggi, Mario Capicchioni, and Giuseppi Lucci. Magrini’s instruments are inspired by the great Classic Italian luthiers, particularly the Bolognese and Emilian schools. In 1986, Magrini joined the National Association of Italian Artistic Violinmaking (ANLAI) and soon became a member of its Board of Experts.
