Christopher White 16 1/4" viola, Goffriller model, 2022, Boston | Metzler Violins

dynamic, bright, complex

About the Instrument
This viola has a gorgeous, effervescent sound. It is projecting and dynamic—notes come easily in the player’s hand. While it bears a two-piece maple back, its strong medium curl falls diagonally from the bass side, as brought out by a russet varnish. Its scroll is of a plainer wood. This maker has thoughtfully antiqued the viola to honor the original upon which it is based, by Venetian luthier Matteo Goffriller.
