About the Maker
David Polstein is a contemporary luthier based in Newton, Massachusetts. After graduating from the violin making program at Boston's North Bennet Street School, Polstein apprenticed under Arthur Toman in Newton, focusing on repair and restoration. In 1995, Polstein opened his own studio in the same town. Almost a decade later, he joined forces with Christopher White. He has received ten awards from the Violin Society of America Competitions, including two Silver Medals and a Certificate of Merit for violas constructed with White. Polstein is a member of the the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers and has served  as the Secretary of its Board of Governors. Is currently an advisor to the violin program at his alma mater, the North Bennet Street School.
