David Russell Young has been making violin bows for over 30 years, but before that he was a guitar-maker. And, in 1975, David published The Steel String Guitar: Construction and Repair, one of the few books on guitar-making at the time. It would go on to inspire countless future builders.

About David: B.A. UCLA, 1966. Worked as a self-employed guitar maker, 1965-1980. Worked as a bowmaker at Hans Weisshaar, Inc. in Los Angeles 1981-1983. Self-employed bowmaker, 1984-present. 20 awards in competitions (VSA, Mittenwald, AFVBM). VSA gold medal, 1988. Journeyman and Master bowmaker's degrees, AFVBM.
