Frederik Bethke is an American violin maker in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he repairs, restores and makes violins, violas and cellos. In 1988 Frederik began an apprenticeship at the violin shop of Carl Becker and Son in Minneapolis with Jennifer Becker and progressed from violin repair to restoration and eventually violin making. On several occasions Frederik assisted Carl Becker in Chicago where his violin knowledge was further honed in this influential shop. Regular exposure to rare, fine instruments as well as the masterful instruments of the Becker family led to valuable insights and sources of inspiration. In 2000 Frederik began working independently.
