About the Instrument
This instrument has an auburn varnish that brings out the strong medium curl flames that fall slightly from the center joint on its two-piece maple back. Its ribs are of a plainer material, its scroll more intensely flamed. A lovely craquelé is present throughout. There is a crack on the front plate on the lower treble side that should not impact the sound. This has been solidly repaired with two cleats. This instrument, lightly repaired, is in very good condition.

About the Maker
Ivan Zgradic (1929-2017) was born in Istanbul, Türkiye and worked in Rome, California, and Utah. An autodidact, Zgradic was a distinctive and devoted luthier, making instruments known for their refined and commanding sound. His pieces were masterfully crafted, bearing tonal and visual character.
