About the Maker
Luca Pirini is a contemporary luthier based in Piacenza, Italy. After graduating from the illustrious The Rossini Conservatoire in 1989, Pirini turned to crafting stringed instruments. He began studying at the Scuola di Liuteria di Pieve di Cento under Benito Tosello and the master luthier Marcello Bellei, the latter of whom introduced Pirini to the Bologna school of violin making. Pirini thus focused his attention on and draws inspiration from the works of the Bologna tradition, including that of Giuseppe Fiorini’s pupils Augusto Pollastri and Ansaldo Poggi. Pirini crafts, repairs, and restores instruments, and has built instruments for students and amateur players available to rent from his atelier.
