Brilliant, carrying, sweet
Piccinotti has been making instruments for more than four decades and has done extensive research on crafting, acoustics, and restoration. He has studied the most prominent Italian violin makers of all times, ranging from the classical to the modern era. Piccinotti’s professional background has been crucial for creating and developing his own crafting and varnishing methods. His innovative and high performing set-up and sound adjustment solutions meet every musician’s highest acoustic expectations. He has taught at the violin making schools of Milan and Parma and has been awarded prizes in several major international competitions.
Tom Metzler personally selected this violin from Marco Piccinotti’s collection at Cremona Mondomusica. This violin has a one piece back with figure that slants towards the bass and beautifully, prominent flame. The ribs are similar to the back and the varnish is a brilliant, reddish brown.
This instrument is bright and projects well, making it a fantastic solo instrument. Its evenness and versatility would also make it well-suited for orchestral playing.
