Sold with the maker's beautiful certificate of authenticity, as well as a portfolio of their latest works, including this violin.
The creation of this violin marks a defining milestone in the career of Pietro Iotti. After years devoted to studying, restoring, and re‑imagining the work of the great classical makers, he reached the point where every lesson distilled from those masters could be poured into an instrument conceived entirely in his own voice.
Nothing about this model is accidental: the flowing outline, the poised edgework, and the sweep of the scroll all testify to years spent at the bench honing proportion, balance, and grace. In many respects this first iteration is a foundation stone, one that will continue to evolve in subtle ways as his aesthetic vision deepens over the coming years, gradually maturing into a design that is unmistakably his.
To ensure the form could speak for itself, the raw materials were chosen for their quiet nobility. Well‑seasoned Alpine spruce with an even grain meets Balkan maple whose flames ripples like silk beneath the varnish. Their visual harmony is intentional: each piece supports the instrument’s architecture without stealing too much attention. Layer by layer the oil varnish in deep carmine and burnt umber was brushed and polished, settling into the wood’s pores and awakening a warm inner glow that shifts under changing light.
Acoustically, the violin projects a voice that is both inviting and assertive. Its core timbre is warm and even across the registers, yet it possesses a surprising reserve of power that blossoms under a strong bow, giving soloists the headroom they need while retaining the blend and nuance essential for orchestral playing. In short, this instrument is crafted to be lived with, an evolving partner for the musician and a living testament to Pietro Iotti’s artistry.
The Team
Coming from different ends of Europe, Denmark and Italy, it seemed unlikely that our paths should cross. However, our shared passion for music and craftsmanship led us to apply for the Violin Making School of Parma, where we first met in 2014.
During our five years of education, we had the privilege of studying under the guidance of renowned craftsmen such as Renato & Elisa Scrollavezza, Andrea Zanrè, Frédéric Noharet and Michele Dobner. In our second year, driven by our dedication to the craft, we established a private workshop to develop our personal style and deepen our understanding of Italian violin making traditions.
In 2019, we founded our own professional workshop and violin shop, specializing in the creation of fine violins inspired by both modern and antique Italian styles. Our focus is on producing instruments of exceptional quality for discerning musicians, collectors, and anyone looking to buy a violin crafted with precision and passion.
To continuously expand our knowledge, we attend membership courses offered by the VSA and actively participate in various masterclasses. We also enjoy the vicinity to Cremona in order to keep in contact with several colleagues with whom we can confront our work. We spent a year being in close contact with Luiz Amorim further pursuing the art of antique style instruments.
We will love to help you in person at our shop, but please call, email, or text us to schedule an appointment.
