About the Maker
Silvio Levaggi is a contemporary master luthier who was born in Italy and now based in Cremona. He attended the Cremona Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria, where he studied under Vincenzo Bissolotti and Vanna Zambelli, and graduated in 1984. In 1994, Levaggi went to work at the atelier of Carlson, Cacciatori, and Neumann in Genoa, where he focused on restoration and conservation. Seven years later, Levaggi opened his own shop in Cremona, where his instruments draw from the long lineage of the city’s luthiers. Levaggi has an impeccable reputation, having earned numerous international awards, often the highest, for his instruments from Violin Society of America and the Triennale Competition in Cremona, making his instruments particularly prized.
