This handsome unlabeled German violin dates from the end of the nineteenth century. A dendrochronological study by the English specialist Peter Ratcliff, dates the youngest ring of the spruce top to the year 1885. The condition is very good, with just one well repaired crack to the right of the tail-piece. The fine sound makes this a desirable instrument for an aspiring violinist.
